Comparison of Cheap 9MM Pistols You Should Consider For Self-Defense

by Martin Glover

Are you among the many people who are now considering arming themselves with guns for self-defense? Getting a gun is a complicated task as each type of firearm has its own pros and cons. You may think that getting a rifle to protect your home is a perfect choice. Or perhaps a trusty shotgun will suffice. But if getting a guns is a means to bolster your own protection and that of your  loved ones, then you will probably be doing the right thing if you go with a 9MM pistol.

For one, a 9MM pistol beats a rifle or a shotgun in terms of costs. The average price of a reliable rifle is around $600 to $1,000. Branded and top grade shotguns can be bought at $500 to $800 on the average. A decent 9MM can cost you $250-$400. And we are just talking about guns. Other expenses that come into play are ammo costs, training fees, gun accessories, extra clips (magazines), maintenance costs, and licensing fees among others. That said, there are plenty of websites where you can sign up for guns and gear giveaways for free and save significantly on your firearm purchases.

Another reason why many gun experts recommend a 9MM pistol for self defense is operational practicality. Put simply, it is easier to hold, aim, and shoot a 9MM pistol compared to a rifle or a shotgun. 9MM pistols are also a better choice to other handguns such as the renowned revolver in terms of ease of usage and ammo capacity. They are also easy to carry and conceal, which is great if you do not want to draw attention.

There are still a throng of reasons why the 9MM pistol is the best choice for self defense with cost as a major consideration. Listed are 5 high quality 9MM pistols that you can get for just below $400.

Available in double or single-action semi-automatic models, this gun features a textured grip to maintain a good hold while operating the weapon. Small yet effective, the Taurus 709 Series Slim is fitted with a 3-inch barrel and weighs 19 oz., lighter than most 9MM pistols.

ruger

A double action semi-automatic pistol specifically built as a conceal-and-carry weapon, the Ruger LC9 features an alloy-steel barrel and glass-filled nylon frame. wesson

Bigger and heavier than the handguns mentioned above, the Smith & Wesson SDVE series pistol is something that you would want if you are not concerned with concealment or size. #4 Remington R51 – $375

remington

Boasting of a 25% less muzzle flip, this handgun can be upgraded with a laser sight for improved accuracy. With an overall length of 6” and weighing 20 oz., the Remington R51 is slightly bigger and heavier than most of the compact 9MMs in the market, but it is a very effective weapon that also boasts of features that reduce hang fires and enhances user safety.

#5 Kahr CW9 semi-automatic – $370

kahr

The Kahr CW9 semi-automatic 9mm pistol features a recent handgun innovation where the shooter’s hand is moved near to the centerline of the bore. The logic behind this move is that by changing the way the shooter grips the gun, the mechanism is so improved because it reduces recoil, decrease muzzle flip, and dramatically improves precision when firing the weapon.  The gun measures 6” overall with a barrel length of 3.5”, making it a compact gun perfect for self and home defense.

No it is not legal to carry any guns in California, and good luck trying to get a concealed weapon permit in California. It was very very very hard to get one back in the 80s and 90s . Now unless your in some sort of law enforcement forget. Move to a open carry state if you want to have guns. Yeah good luck with that in California. Just to carry a gun through California the gun must be in a case locked and up in front of the vehicle and the ammo well best not to even carry ammunition in the vehicle. But it can be locked up in the trunk. Basically where you definitely cannot get to the ammunition and gun . In transport. I was born and raised in California that state has gotten so bad I am a gun owner and carry for my protection so never see me living in California ever again. And I remember back in the day dad carried his rifles on his truck rack in the back window loaded with never a problem. Now the law would flip out. You would be in jail so fast. Jail first then questions later. Yea good luck. Move if you want to carry protection
