What is Daminion?

Daminion is a multi-user digital asset management solution. Previously known as PicaJet.com, this software is ideal for teams or businesses of any size. It is used by over 750 companies from various industries worldwide such as the United Nations, H&H Photographers, and Hedrick Brothers Construction. The software is designed to be a centralized repository of your media files so that everything you need can be found in one place. In fact, Daminion can manage around 500,000 photos and videos. You can save time using Daminion’s filtering system, rather than manually looking for the specific files you need that are located in different folders, hard drives, or even devices. Daminion can filter search results taken at a specific date and location. The software even has a map tagging feature where you can visually see your files pinned on a map. Other ways of searching files include the camera that you used, tags, and even metadata.

Daminion Benefits

Benefits

The main benefits of Daminion are server backups, fully searchable, organization and centralization of files, and multi-user access. Here are more details on Daminion’s benefits:

Server Backups

Daminion can be installed on any device that supports Windows or used in the cloud via the webserver. You can choose to store your data on either Daminion Local or the upcoming Daminion Cloud. The advantage of storing your files on-premise is that you can ensure local security, while the advantage of storing them on the cloud is that you don’t have to buy and maintain special hardware for it to work. All your data is also backed up in the server so you don’t have to worry about losing them if your hardware breaks down for any reason.

Fully Searchable

Daminion supports a variety of file formats such as PDF, PNG, JPEG, SVG, GIF, MKV, and MP3 among others. An added benefit of using Daminion is that everything is searchable. The software has search features like quick search, filter content by tags, advanced search, and saved searches. After all, buying an asset management software that doesn’t allow you to easily find the files that you need is not going to be useful.

Organization and Centralization of Files

Daminion serves as a centralized repository of your digital assets. The files can be stored by category and tags.  You can also add hierarchical tags, which is beneficial if you have to organize a lot of files. The date, time, and location of your files can be seen, as well as any metadata that those files may have. The software also supports a map tagging feature and it is useful when you need to find saved files by location. You can browse through a digital, clickable map. For example, if you took a photo in a Starbucks, you can just scroll the map and find the specific Starbucks that you captured the shot from and your file can be seen like a pin.

Multi-User Access

One of the software’s defining features is that it can accommodate multiple users. Since the files are searchable, anyone in the organization can easily search all the assets that they need. Your team can work on the same files and documents that you are working on. Daminion also has a user access restriction that you can configure for added security.
