TouchWorks EHR Benefits
The main benefits of Touchworks EHR are its ease in charting and documentation, accessibility, and flexible note-taking functionality. Here are the details:
Task management is easier with TouchWorks EHR since it helps the staff and physicians by automating workflow. The task bucket and task list are displayed so users can easily access it. With the task list, staff messages, Rx renewal requests, lab tests, and patient results can be verified, since the patient worklist can be viewed by users.
A given patient’s lab tests can queue verified since users can sign them all at once. A pharmacy’s direct prescription referral can also be viewed by physicians for Rx renewal requests. These referrals include the number of refills, medication, and sig. Users can also use this feature to either deny or approve a patient’s refill requests. Patient inquiries and similar requests delivered by nursing assistants can also be viewed on the patient worklist, and physicians can comment, respond, and view them there.
Order groups can be created by TouchWorks EHR, and can consist of X-rays, labs, instructions, and items that may not be lab-related. A hypertension order group can be created, for instance, with the addition of items and specific labs to a list of favorites such as Lipid Panel-Coronary Risk, CPK (Creatine Phosphokinase), and CBC (complete blood count). These favorites can then be imported to the hypertension order group. Patient problems can then be efficiently worked on with this feature.
Notes can also be formed inside another note thanks to the flexibility of the software’s note-taking function. The software also has a specialty-specific note form that can be pulled up by physicians with the form selector. Appropriate forms can also be pulled up and added as a note under the history of present illness should a particular problem related to the present illness pop up.
Forms that include UTI Recurrent, UTI Chronic, Urinary Retention, and Urinary Frequency would be displayed if the current problem is an Acute UTI. Selection can be made and text information freed within these note forms. This results in charting and documentation that is more efficient and productive.
